96 Trooper Troubles
#1
Hi,
I just reached about 105K on my 96 3.2 V6 Trooper, of course like everyone else I'm aware ofhaving to keep oil in the damn thing on a regular basis being that I used to have a 94 Rodeo, so I get the oil changed pretty regularly, keep it lubbed and all, but my check engine light just came on, I'm not hearing any odd sounds and my commute to work roundtrip is only 22 miles 3 days a week, only do highway driving here and there a few times a week, so it's not getting a lot of wear and tear if you know what I mean. Last tune up was in late 04, so is it the factory installed computer telling me to get maintanance because I hit the past the 103/104K mark? Or should I be worried that something is going wrong?

NOTHING MAYJOR SHOULD BE WRONG, CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON FOR EMISSION PROBLEMS. MY BEST GUESS IS THE EGR HAS INSUFFICENT FLOW.DUE TO CARBON BUILD UP OVER THE YRS,ESP WITH SHORT TRIP DRIVING. IF TH ATS THE CASE GET THE EGR PASSAGE CLEANED. AN MAYBE REPLACE THE VALVE. BUT GET THE CODE CHECKED FIRST.ANY AUTO-ZONE OR ADVANCE AN DO THAT FOR FREE FOR YOU.

Thanks Guru, I was able to get to get in touch with theguy I purchased it from since he owns 3 other Troopers and He advised the same thing. Said the same thing happened to his wifes Trooper a few months back. Seemslike the way to go getting the same advise from 2 sources, this a great forum!!!
