Hi there i have a 86 isuzu trooper with a oil consumption problem it has 2.3 4 cyl. and the dang thing eats oil like crazy is that normal for isuzu. there is no visible signs of leaks and no blue or black smoke out the tail pipe. just eats the oil. i don't understand were it goes. also i was doing a tune up and i replaced my distributor cap and i notes a broken plastic ring of some sort it doesn't seam to effect anything runs good. just curious as to what it could be. any ideas on what i can use to help my oil problems would be greatly helpful thanks.

oil usage is typical of isuzus.just keep it topped off.1 quart per 1000 miles is normal.the catalytic converter burns off the excess so theres no smoke.as long as you watch it close that thing will run a long time.

ok will do that it seams to use a little more then that but could be because of its age as well. i will just keep it topped off. and all will be ok thanks for the reply and god bless.

one more thing.never use a fram oil filter.use a purolator.i was having trouble with fram and did a search online.come to find out its the worst one on the market.i also like the lucas oil treatment.i use a quart of it at every oil change in my trooper.got 170000 miles on it.it stopped valve ticking and eased up my oil consumption too.a lot of people get in trouble with isuzus because they dont watch them close.theyve definitely got some personality quirks.hahahahaha.but then-every car i ever had did.good luck.
