I need help. I have an 88 Isuzu I-Mark. Just after we bought it the waterpump went out and we had that replaced. After that it drove really well. As time passed it started giving us some problems which pointed toward catalytic converter. The "bowl" looking one that connects to the engine (exhaust manifold) was really bad. We could not find the another part like that, so we just knocked all the insides out and put it back.

After putting everything back again, it ran well for a few days and then suddenly the overheating started. Replaced the thermostat, but still have problems. It seems that when it overheats it pushes out its water into the overflow, rather than the other way around, so the radiator is dry.

Anyone have ideas before we look at the waterpump again which is a big job.
