I have a 92 4x4 pickup with a 2.6, Id like to swap it with a v6. Are there any kits or anything out there?

I'd like to put in a GM 4.3 vortec engine. Id prefer to reuse my existing tranny and transfer case, etc. The Jimmy would have all that stuff, maybe it would all fit in there, and get some custom driveshafts made up.

As far as kits, your pretty much on your own, i have yet to find any company that makes one, but you can put a good amount of different engines in without major modification, most of the smaller GM V6's will work, as for the 4.3, you will have to switch the transmission to the GM tranny, the 4.3 uses the same bolt pattern as a small block, the 90* bolt pattern, on the other hand, the 2.8, 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 V6's use the 60* bolt pattern and should bolt to your stock transmission, also the 4.0 V8 found in oldmobiles will fit along with the 4.6 northstar and the older cadillac 4.9l V8, you could also use a Isuzu 3.2, or 3.5 V6, but all of these are going to require custom made motor mount and some other mods, but at least on some you dont have to swap the trans, hope some of this is helpful, good luck!!
