94 V6 TIMING

I HAVE A 94 V-6 RODEO. I REMOVED TIMING BELT BEFOREREADING MANUAL TO REPLACE WATER PUMP.I MARKED THE TIMING BELT AND NOW IT WONT LINE UP TO MY MARKS WHEN I PUT IT BACK ON. WHY WONT IT LINE UP? I DID NOT REMOVE PLUGS OR ROTATE CRANK OR CAMS BEFORE REMOVING BELT. THE HAYNES MANUAL SEEMS A LITTLE UNCLEAR TO ME AS TO HOW TO RE-TIME THE CRANK AND CAMS. I UNDERSTAND TO REMOVE SPARK PLUGS. ROTATE THE CRANK SO AS TO HAVE KEY WAY A 3 0'CLOCK POSITION (BEING CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE VALVES)THEN I AM NOT TO CLEAR AS TO THE MARKS OR ROTATION POINTS OF CAMS. I HAVE A LINE ON EACH CAM WITH A GREEN PAINT OVER THEM, ARE THESE THE TIMINGPOINTS? WHAT TO DO?
