Ok i sold my Tacoma and 98 Jeep for good money now im looking for a inexpensive amigo with low miles. Las vegas bank has a 98 4cyl 5sp amigio 4x4 for sale with 30k miles $2400 dollars. Seems like a nice vehicle for the money but i remember awhile back that the 4cyl is a bad engine? What needs attention on 98s? Something with the timing belt and tensioner blowing up. Am i going to have to replace this engine with a Toyota 4cyl down the road?

......isuzu has a recall on the timing belt on,those engines.so if it does break, yes it will destroy the valves, but as long as you take it back to the dealer.they may replace it free of charge.98 amigos, you have to spoil it on maintance.an there not very powerful engines.you will feel a difference from what you use to drive.

they make good around town vehicles, long distance or off roading, definatly a thumps down..........my opinion.do yourself a favor before purchase.take the vin number to your dealer, have them check for open recalls.Edited by: ISUZUGURU
