I also have a '99 Amigo, but mine is a soft top. However, before I bought my soft top, I was also looking at hard tops. If I bought a hard top, I wanted to make sure that the hard top was removable. From what I've learned, the hard top is removable, but as you probably know better than me, you have a lot more screws and hardware to remove before the hard top can be lifted off the car. I had confirmed with others that this is doable. Unfortunately, I don't know how it effects the seals, but I would imagine that if the seals are in good condition to begin with and if the top is reinstalled with the seals intact (not bent or damaged), and secured, it shouldn't be a problem. It's probably a lot of effort, but doable. ...I actually sold my Jeep Wrangler to purchase my Amigo and my Wrangler had a removable hardtop. And eventhough the hardtop on my Wrangler was removable, it wasn't easy as some people think. And it leaked consistently. I just learned to live with it, which is what all removable top owners do I guess.

I''ve done the conversion of a soft top to hard top. I''m a trim tech at an isuzu dealership. Anyway , the potential damage that could happen, makes removing the hard top not worth the risk. It would also be unsightly because of the mouldings that are not there , needed to finish the openings left that are capped with the soft top models.

Yes the hard top is removable I have a hard top. Just type in how to remove an Amigo hard top and it will go step by step. However you have to replace the weather stripping when you want to put the hard top back on. The site also shows you how to convert your hard top into a soft top.
