1992 auto lock to aisin manual lock hubs
#1
Hi all. I have a ''92 with auto locking hubs and want to go to manual locking hubs. i found some manual aisin hubsat the junk yard and got them but left the axle shafts there. Does anyone know if i should have brought those shafts too? I already rebuilt the manual hubs, but the axle shafts to the auto locking hubs seem to be shorter. Can anyone point me in the right direction. If you have done this swap before can you give a struggling guy some help?

Not sure on ''92 but on other years there are 2 grooves for the snap rings. One is used for the auto hubs, the other for manual. Also need to make sure the spline count is the same. Early isuzus used 24 spline shafts, later ones used 17 spline. Not sure which the ''92 used.

Nope, dont need to engage the t-case at all.
HERE is a post with some install problems and pics. The hardest part is getting the shaft pulled through enough to get to the snap ring groove. HERE is a write up on converting ''''96+ rodeos to manual hubs with some pics. These should help you visualize.
''''92 is an early 1st gen.
''''91-92 - early 1st gen (GM drivetrain)
''''93-95 - 1st gen (isuzu drive train 175 hp SOHC 3.2)
''''95.5 - oddball, 1st gen with gen 1.5 interior
''''96-97 - gen 1.5 (isuzu drive train 190 hp SOHC 3.2)
''''98-99 - early 2nd gen (isuzu drive train 204 hp DOHC 3.2)
''''00-04 - 2nd gen (isuzu drive train 204 hp DOHC 3.2, ''03/04 also had 214 hp DOHC 3.5 DI)
Weird way of designations but thats how most ppl refer to different years of rodeos.Edited by: Gizmo42
