I need ideas. after having rebuilt the engine in my 98 trooper 3.5, new crank, 2pistons and rods, head sent out for checking and valve job, i have a terible rattle from both heads.I pulled the valve covers and rechecked the valve clearences, they are solid shims over buckets, the clearence was fine. Its seems as if there is not enough oil pooling to keep the cam lobes oiled.maybe the buckets or where they ride in the head is to loose a fit and is allowing oil to run off to quick? are there over sized buckets available? any ideas

It takes a while for the lifters to pump up sometimes.......have you let it run (after making sure there is oil pressure) long enough to pump them up?

One guys opinion.Edited by: atfdmike

the cam buckets(lifters maybe) are solid with shims that have tobe adjusted which they are within specs. it just seems that the oil is insuffient to lube the cam lobes. the actual oil pressure is also within specs, maybe its a quantity pproblem. thanks for your input
