My 95 Trooper 3.2 liter was hard starting for a couple of days and then
yesterday I got in and tried to start and I got nothing except one click from around the coil area. I checked the battery and the auto parts store said it was fine. Charged it over night, put it back in and still nothing. Lights are bright and work fine, stereo works, interior lights work. Just can't get it to start. Checked fueses they seem to be fine as well I guess it could be the starter but it seems weird that it won't even try to turn the engine over. Just trying to eliminate all the possible options before replaceing a $200 starter. Any suggetions? Thanks! Jesse |
Sounds like a bad starter to me. Sorry. If you ant to be sure, and you do get a click you can get a second person to help you. One person turns and holds the key in the start position, the secons lightly smacks the starter motor with a hammer ( being sure you are very much clear of all moving parts. Most likely after a couple good smacks with the key turned it will fire right up, and you can feel good about forking out a couple hundred for a new starter. Let us know how it goes.
