Help!


I hve 97K on an 01 Troop with the 3.5 V6. I thought I would change the spark plugs and maybe pick up a few MPG. I replaced the OE Champions with Bosch plugs and the check engine light came on. (Wasnt on before) Had it checked at a local shop and found a "misfire" code. Cost me 30 bucks to have it cleared! However, the truck is running great. Seems to have a lot more pep with the new plugs. I double checked my work and even cleaned the coil packs where they screw to the valve cover. Every thing seems fine! Check Engine light came back on and I am out the $30. I did notice that when I first pulled the coil packs some of the rubber tubes to the plugs were tough to pull off. I seperated a couple, but they snapped right back on. So far this has been the most expensive spark plug change ever!! WTF!!


Any help or ideas welcome.

Good news! I pulled the Bosch plugs with the weird electrodes and installed Autolite plugs with the traditional single electrode and the check engine light stopped blinking! The next day, the steady on check engine light clicked off after a full throttle blast onto the freeway!!! Bonus!!


Lession learned from the most expensive sparkplug change ever; Stick with an OE type plug when replacing yours!


In my defense, I asked the Bonehead at the parts store for OE replacement plugs. He showed me a computer screen with 25 different plugs and told me to: "take your pick".
