I have a 93 trooper and i was working on it today on the abs system as you can see in my other thread. The fuel pump decided to take a crap today. I was wondering if there is a removable plate in the rear cargo area that you can remove to get to the fuel pump. All of the screws and bolts are rusty on mine so it will be a PITA to check. Or will i have to drop the tank? Thanks for any responses. I did search in here and i only found one other thread with fuel pump problems and it didn't help...

p.s. i know its the fuel pump because i took the relay out of the engine bay fuse box and hotwired the pump, i can hear it try but it's locked up. This is my daily driver so i need to get it fixed!

I think i am just going to drop the tank after all. It doesn't look to hard, and i don't have a parts vehicle with a floor to cut out of. It looks like it would be a pain in the ... to bend sheet metal to fit.

Well it was harder than i thought. But that happens with almost any project i start. There was quite a lot of rusty bolts slowing me down which sucked. Especially the screws on the top of the gas tank for the fuel pump plate. Two hours to drain a full tank or fuel and drop the tank, one hour to remove and replace fuel pump, and 45 minutes to reinstall tank. If anyone else ever wants to cut the floor out i would advise against it. Especially if your trooper doesn't have much rust underneath.
