Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and this may have been posted before, but here goes. I have a 2001 Trooper and would like to get a 3" to 3.5" suspension lift for it. Who carries a good lift kit for it, I found one online, but it was almost $2500, is this a good price? Also, the rocker switches on the overhead console for the maplights broke, can I just rplace the switches or does the whole console have to be replaced and where can I get the parts. Better yet, is there a site or catalog that carries interior parts like these, I have to fix an inside door handle too.

I love my Trooper, it drives great and best of all, it''''s PAID FOR. I just want to fix it up and beef it up a little. Can anyone help me here?

Thanks

In my honest opinion man you should just leave the trooper alone with the stocks that it has. I mean if you get a lift you might need bigger tires and as it is my trooper when i drive 70mph it revs at 3000rpms and i dont know if that happens with everyones trooper but it does to mine and i think thats a little high of a rev when cruising. I have my truck and at 70 its at 2400 rpms good enough to cruise and stay quiet. But if you going to do a lift regardless i would say 3 inch would be the highest I would go.

Well, the whole point of me putting a lift on it is so I can fit larger tires on it, as for the 3000 rpm''s, I''ve never really looked at it, but I''m pretty sure that redline is a lot higher than that, in other words, I don''t think it''s hurting the Trooper as it was either designed that way our something is wrong with your Trooper. I''m pretty sure mine cruises at lowerpm''s at 70 than 3000rpm. As for the whole 70 mph issue anyway, I don''t really drive highway in it a lot anyway, and 3.5" isn''t that much anyway. All I was asking for was if folks knew where to geta look at more lifts for my Trooper as I have only been able to find one for it.I''m already set that I am lifting it, I''m pretty sure it''s ok to do as I have seen numerous pics of Icelander''s that have some pretty awesome rigs, they sure do lift a lot of Troopers for them not to do good with a lift, I''m just saying.

yea i hear ya. But yea the fact of the rpms revving is cause my truck redlines at 5800 and the trooper redlines like at 6200. ANd your probably right it shouldnt be revving that high. But if you get a chance to run your trooper at about 70 mph can you let me know where your rpms at. By the way mine is having rough idle sort cause sometimes when i put it in park and rev a little and let go the rpm drops but the idle doesnt catch it in time and the engine bogs like it wants to stall. Any ideas thanks

What year is your Trooper? If it has the 3.5L like mine I might have an idea what it is. Mine did the same thing a few years ago. I would start the Trooper up and would idle real rough so I would rev it up and let it drop and the engine would bog down and sometimes die. I took it to get it checked and it turned out to be my catalytic converters, both of them had been gutted. I had to replace both of them, the Trooper won''t run with out them. Try getting your exhaust system checked, otherwise it could be anything from the fuel system to the computer controling the idel or fuel. Hopefully it''s just the cats or the exhaust, if it''s something electrical, good luck with finding it. That is the only thing I hate about these newer vehicles. Hope this helps.

Ok for your lift you should look to INDEPENDENT4X.COM or CALMINI.COM Inde has a 3 in lift and calmini has a 2 inch. I have all my stuff from Inde and I love it. You RPMs will go down athigher speeds with larger tires so don''t fret (largerserface of tire covers more ground with less rpms). All in all I have spent about $3,000 on my suspention so far , so what your looking at is not a bad price. Don''t forget that when you do get larger tires , your speedo will show a slower speed that you are really doing. I have just put 33s on mine and at 70 mph on the speedo, I''m really doing almost 85mph. So be careful. I hope I have ben of help. Good luck. Any more questions just drop me an e-mail @ kirausa2001@yahoo.com . Sorry I can''t help with the switches and stuff. I get my parts from junk yards.

Default about the lift

what is all this talk about 3000 dollars for a lift... all it is is torsion bars and springs.... i honestly dont know where to get a torsion key kit and lift springs but keys for any other truck is about 60 bucks and a spring is a spring just match the diameter with something else and make it work.... i got my trooper 2 months ago decided to lift it yesterday and i can promise that i will have at least a 3" lift by the end of the week for less than 200 dollars.. 3000 dollars what, do troopers require platinum suspension parts or something.

Default follow up

ok now as a follow up to my post last night... My 2001 trooper now sits 5 inches above stock and guess how much it cost!!!! 0$0$0$ to all of you who have purchased these 1500 and 2000 and even 3000 dollar lift kits i hope you didnt need that money for anything else.. All you have to do is rekey the t-bars and what i did is put the front springs off of an 92 chevy 1500 on the rear (( fit perfectly and lifted it 5")).. you dont need Hd t-bars, you dont need longer shocks though i will be replacing them tomorrow (kinda bouncy) you dont need longer brake lines they are plenty long for even an 8" lift. the ball joints on the front are not in a stressful angle so once again dont need to be upgraded...... After all of it which took about 2 hrs all i would say is needed is new shocks on the rear the fronts really are fine with the lift..

So 5" lift for 200 maximum,, for the junkyard springs 92 1500 and some new shocks for the rear.. im sure most wont be so lucky to get the springs for free

Anyone with any questions about this mod is welcome to email me @ degan4@gmail.com with any questions i will get back to you as soon as i can
