Well my 97 Tooper's rearend that is. I just got the Trooper and looks like the rear has a leak. Anyone ever replace the seal on the center chunk?

Is this comon with the Trooper?

Also has anyone found a repair manual for one of these?

Thanks!

I picked up a chiltons manual at advance auto parts...

I would think about any store which sells books should be able to get you one. looks like amazon has one...

I do think this is semi-common on Troopers. One Mechanic told me
that this is the one of the few downfalls of this vehicle. I have an 88
trooper that has that problem. I removed the drive shaft, and
rear axles. Took the rear differential apart, and made a gasket
out of blue RTV. This worked great for a while, but eventually
transfered the pressure and blew out the seal on the pinion. I
still have a small drip coming from the point where the shaft enters
the diff, but its slow and i just refill it every few months. I
put Lucas oil in there as well and it helps keep the seals swelled and
drips much slower. I just live with it now, and dont feel its
even worth my time to really really fix it. Hope this helps.
