MAF Location

Hi Everyone: I'm brand new to this forum, just joined today. I have a 1998 Trooper with 112,000 miles on it. To date this has been an absolutely great vehicle. I had some minor transmission problems earlier but a flush hand fluid change seems to have resolved it.

My problem now is an OBD code P0102 "MAF or VAF A Circuit Low Input". I've reset the code without making any changes and of course, it comes right back. I understand I may be able to clean the existing one without having to purchase a new one. I'm not against replacing it but if I can get by with just cleaning it I'll try that first.

The vehicle is also starting to stall out at idle and running rough. I did replace the sparkplugs this morning and that seemed to help with the idle but the check engine light is still coming on.

Here's my question... Where is this thing located? Obviously it has to be in the air flow somewhere but I'll be darned if I can see it.

Thanks for any answers.

Steve

found it

Well, I jumped the gun on that question. I found the MAF just after the air filter. Got a new one and replaced it within about 30 minutes. The Trooper runs great again.
