Fuse Keeps Blowing

Hi everyone,
I have a 95 trooper that has been giving me some problems. While driving the other day, I thought i smelled something burning. the smell only last a few seconds, so i thought maybe i drove past someplace that was burning something . I stopped at a store and when i got back in my truck to leave, it wouldn't start. There was no power at all. I just bought a battery a couple of weeks ago, so i checked the cables and all was fine. When i looked a my fuses, i saw that the 80 amp fuse was blown. I bought another and as soon as i turned the key, it blew again. After looking around, i realized the starter was messed up. SO, I bought another starter and ANOTHER 80a fuse. I got it all back together, attempted to start my truck, and same fuse blew AGAIN! Tomorrow, i plan i check the alternator. Can anyone PLEASE give me an idea of what coud possibly be wrong? is there a chance its the alternator or will i be wastiin my time??
Thanks in advance :)

I would check the wiring that goes to the alternator as it sounds/smells like the heave red wire that goes to the alternator is touching something and is shorting out. You might nt have any problems with the alternator at all.

Hope this helps.

I forgot you might want to check the +cable and see if something is rubbing that cable since the battery was just changed.
