I have an 89 V6 Trooper and the fan clutch is always engaged, from the first time it is started in the morning and cold to operating temperature. I have had cars with a bad fan clutch before and the fanwill not come onwhenits supposed to when it fails, simply freewheeling all the time and not locking up. This one is the opposite and is engaged all the time and I am not reallysure thatthe clutch is reallyat fault. Has anyone else had their fan clutch go bad and it became engaged all the time instead of not engaging at all? I was thinking that maybe the temp sensor that triggers it is bad or maybe it has no oil in it or something elseI am not aware of. Thanks in advance.

you could try hooking up an electrical tester to the temp sensor and check for proper resistance. that would tell you right away if the sensor is bad. the proper resistance is in the repair manual. ive never had a clutch run continuously, but i have had a temp sensor go out and the gauge read low temp. needless to say i overheated the motor! good luck i hope i was a little help. if you have trouble finding the resistance let me know and ill look it up for you.
