I have an 86 Trooper II with the carbureted 4 cylinder engine and five speed manual transmission and was considering going to a fuel injected engine as the carbureted one is very cold natured and has no acelleration. I've heard of people swapping in everything from Chevrolet 4.3 v6 motors to swapping in the turbocharged diesel engine from the Isuzu pup. I also saw a 87 2 door with a factory turbodiesel and five speed but I've only seen one like this. If there is anyone who has performed a engine swap regardless of what make or model in a similar vehicle any information regarding what modifications would need to be made and what parts I would need would be greatly appreciated. I am also open to suggestions to hop up the carbureted motor already in the vehicle. Thanks

the most difficult issues with swapping in a newer FI engine are the mounting locations, and the engine control electronics...

Will follow this thread...I also have a 86 Troop and have rebuilt the motor consisting of new head and new crank. Am wondering if the carb can be enlarged or bigger jets or maybe manifold changed allowing for larger upgrades. New to forum, so if this has been discussed in the past, sorry for the repeat.
