engine problem
 

hey my 88 isuzu trooper doesnt wanna stay idled when i first start it and now sometimes wont start right away? and it has an odd up and down idle every now and again.... dont know what it is for sure... any ideas?

maybe a vacuum line came loose, start checking those. Which motor do you have in yours? Check the EGR Valve as well.

it had a worse idle when i first baught it and replaced all vacume lines but it didnt clear up all the way and now just started not wanting to start right off the bat... i smell gas after it doesnt wanna start? its the 2.6l sohc

check the thermal valve on top of the thermostat. when they hang up they can cause this type of problem. pinch one of the lines going to it and see if the idle smooths out.
