Hello all! I own a 98 Trooper(3.5L V6) and live in Denver. I'm originally from the east coast and when I drive back for visits I notice just how much the altitude here hampers the horsepower (it feels like I have a 350CI V8 in it when I'm at sea level LOL). I'm wondering if replacing the stock air intake with an aftermarket cold air system would help? Logic says that it would be of some help.

The next issue is K&N does not make a kit for the Trooper. I'm wondering which kit could be easily retrofitted to fit the 3.5L V6....or am I just stuck with the situation. Edited by: bbhuey99

Don't use a k&n air filter the oil will get into the MAF sensor and you will have even more problems.

Make sure your MAP sensor is working and you intake is good and clean, and see what happens

I''ve put cold air intakes on all my vehicles and got a 1-2 mpg jump and a little horsepower. The biggest thing you will see with a CAI is throttle respone, you touch the gas and the car goes. I just got this truck and I have so many parts from old CAI that I think I will be able to fabricate something. Also check ebay. The $50 work just as well as the $300.
