check transmission light
#1
Hi Guys! got a problem with my 3.2 trooper, replaced head gaskets on the old girl, all seemed well, drove it around for a morning with no trouble, then the check transmisson light came on and the engine went into safe mode, 40mph flat out! If I treid to keep driving it like this it caused the engine to over heat, pose it was down to the auto gearbox oil being hot and heating up the water in radiator? topped the oil up but now as soon as it changes to second gear the light comes on and the engine shuts down! has anyone come across this before any help would be most welcome
Cheers Mick

Sorry Mick,
I have a '96 trooper, and had the 'a/t oil' light come on. Turns out it was due to overheated oil, and stopping for a 15-min rest did the trick. SoonI hada transmission fluid flush/refill done, and the problem has not recurred. This happened at approx 140k miles, and the truck is now just shy of 150k. I wish I had a more definitive answer for your. Cheers,
Dave
