Automatic Transmission Intermittent Slip
#1
Good Day!
I was wondering if anyone has experience with intermittent slip. I have a 92 Trooper LS. And every once in a while, sometimes more than others, the Check Transmission Light comes on and then goes into some strange mode whereby it takes high RPM to get going and feels like it is slipping. I guess it's feels like it is in Winter Mode.
To correct it, I simply, turn off the ignition, which I guessresets something and everything is ok for a while.
Thanks,

I have a 91
trooper that does the same thing as 92trooper. When the
transmission light comes on i have to either turn off the car and turn
it back on or go through the gears like you would with a manual
transmission, I have tried to use some stop slip stuff for
trnasmissions but that does not work.
Any ideas?

hi ive got a 92 trooper and i get the same prob, in some cases its the alternator belt, try tightening it up and putting some degreaser onto it and giving it a good clean this will stop it slipping or it could be your alternator that needs replacing

WHEN THE TRANS LIGHT COMES ON THE CONTROL MODULE GOES INTO A BACK UP MODE TO PROTECT THE TRANS. YOU ALL NEED TO GET THE CODE DIAG TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.ALOT OF TIMES ITS A LOSS OF RPM SIGNAL EITHER A IGNITION MODULE OR THE TCM.TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE.ADDING ADDITIVES WONT CORRECT ANYTHING.TAKE IT TO A DEALER OR A GOOD SHOP THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO AT LEAST PULL CODE OUT OF IT. A DEALERSHIP CAN DIAG IT FOR YOU.THIS PROBLEM ESP OCCURS WITH THE 3.1L G.M. V6Edited by: ISUZUGURU

I recently had the shift sensor "B" replaced on my 2001 trooper. I was taking high RPM''s to advance. The transmission will shift to 3rd so you can still get it to a shop or off the road...Cost me about $200
