Accelerator stuck in wide open position. Found that the "rubber" insulation tube had melted off, (about 2" worth) and the bubble of rubber on the cable sticks in the outer cable cover, when pedal is pressed. Result, very high revs on engine until I cut it off and free it up.Two (2) questions:

1) Where to find replacement cable

2) What could have caused it to melt, I see no high source hot enough to melt the rubber and make it drip down on the engine.

TIA

I had the same issue with my Trooper 1991. Bought a throttle cable from the dealer. They''re still around even though Isuzu no longer sells passenger cars and trucks in the US.They still sell large trucks here. I bought mine just last week. What happens is that the rubber tip degrades over time and gums up the works.

Thanks, peegeez. I found the recall statement, performed the required surgery and was able to make it to the airport and back home. I shall look for a Isuzu truck dealer here in north texas. Sure wish I could tell where the intense heat came from to melt the rubber grommet. Almost looked like someone held a torch or lighter or match directly under the grommet and it drip straight down. Weird!
