89 Trooper start/idle problem
Have an 89 Trooper with 150K. When starting it requires high RPM, 3000, to keep it running for the first two minutes. It then idles properly and runs well. Shut it down and repeat of the same problem but if it is still hot less time at high RPM is needed.
I've checked the air flow valve and fuel system. Anyone know the solution to the problem? |
Check the spark plugs, check the IAC to see if it's dirty. If the IAC is dirty you can clean it with seafoam or another type of cleaning agent.

Iac
I just spent many hours replacing the IAC and hope to have it running shortly. I appreciate the response. Your the first from numerous forms that gave any type of knowlegeble advise. I will advise if that fixes the problem.

Did you have any luck? I have an idle that won't come down from max.
