1992 Trooper with trouble code 14
My check engine light comes on and stays on after two minutes of driving. When checking for the problem the FLASHING CHECK ENGINE light indicates 14. My Chilton book says the trouble 14, is a shorted coolant sensor circuit. I've also read that this sensor is under the exhaust manifold on right side of engine and in the engine block. I'm told it just sends a signal to the temperature gauge and not the ECM. Is there another coolant sensor I've overlooked? Car runs fine. Can I do a continuity test to ground or between the two wires on the sensor wiring with out disconnecting the wires from the ECM? The Trooper engine is a 3.2L SOHC.
