02 trooper burning oil
spoke with a dealer service rep a few months back, asking him about oil depletion . my trooper has approx 150k miles and i have taken good care of her. no visable burning of oil, however just took a road trip and it needed 2 quarts in less than 1000 miles. it has probably had this issue for the last 50k or so. he told me something about the engine and its unique use or loss of engine oil, i wondered if anyone can elaborate for me?
thanks

I dont know much about why the truck uses oil or where it goes.....we have had our troooper since new in 2000 - has 118K and somewhere about 50K or so ago it starting using oil....no visable signs of it leaking into the cylinders.....just uses it. I just keep re setting the trip odometer and check it every 500 miles. I use about a quart every 1000 miles. I think I read something a while back of some folks converting the oil filter mount to accept a larger filter (off a Ford ranger or explorer...) and had a fewer loss of oil? anyone else weigh in on that??
