I have been looking for the tcm on my rodeo and cant seem to find it the haynes manual does not speak of any tcm (or at least i have not found it yet) I hooked up a genysis scan tool to the rodeo today and no codes came up even though it will not shift out of 1st gear and i cant seem to read anything off of the transmission except the speed... I can see all shift procedures off of my 01 cavalier 1-2 then 2-3 everything but nothing for my rodeo...is there a tcm to hook up a scan tool to?

I know i have asked a lot of questions in the last few days but i love this suv and i want to actually start driving it

From looking through the factory manual it looks like Isuzu doesnt use a TCM, its built into the PCM (main computer). Isuzu uses a Tech 2 scanner for their diagnostics which plugs into the obdII connector.

Thanks for the info..I tried using the genisys scan tool from NAPA at the tune of 2400 dollars and its a no go as far as transmissions

Jross61975. Hi you can find the PCM (Combined TCM and ECU) located in the forward console behind the ash tray, but looking at what your symptoms are i suggest you try this first. Without any high cost tooling, You need to get the flash code for your problem
at the DLC (OBDII connector RHS of centre console on a floating lead), key off, short out pins 4 and 11 for Auto Trans, (6 and 4 for Engine , 8 and 4 for TOD, and 12 and 4 for ABS) then switch key on, the Check Trans light will flash a code. Say ON ON ON -------ON then it repeats this is Flash code 31 which is equivalent to P0753(if you had a tech 2) which is the 1-2 3-4 shift solenoid. FYI if it flashes 32 at you this is the 2-3 shift solenoid. This sounds like your problem. So you need to jack the vehicle, block it safe and drain the ATF and remove the pan to expose the lower part of the Valve body which has three solenoids, namely the 1-2 3-4 shift solenoid, the 2-3 shift solenoid and the Band ***** solenoid cant think of the name. The 1-2 3-4 and the 2-3 are close to each other, from memory the 1-2 3-4 solenoid is normally closed and opens with 12 volts applied (about 1 amp) and the 2-3 solenoid is normally open and is energised closed. This is done from the PCM so while you are down there it might pay to do a continuity check from each solenoid to its respective pinout at the PCM cant seem to find a schematic anywhere. Also could be the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor ) which is sensed by the PCM and shifts to 2nd at a designated speed. So good luck with that.
