My 2001 Rodeo's ABS light comes on intermittently. I have heard that
there maybe a possible problem with the wiring harness with these
trucks. I also heard that the trouble area was where it comes into the
truck under the driver's seat.

I looked at it this weekend, but I couldn't see any obvious problems.



Is there a way to troubleshoot this without blindly changing out wiring harnesses? [img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img]

Is there a way to test the sensors?

dont let the words wiring harness scare you.look at the rear diff theres a sensor on top.follow the wiring harness to the left rear wheel theres a connector.tug on the wires alittle there,you,ll proably notice they are broken.isuzu has a updated or longer harness for this problem,the old ones were to short so they made them longer.just cut out the old an splice the new one in...if thats the problem...but this was usaully only for the 98 99 modles.if yours is 2wd,its proably one of the ft speed sensors.take it to your dealer an have them check the codes.the only way to check them is with a dvom or a scan tool.

I can ohm out the sensors, if you know what they should read.

I was thinking of measuring all of them and seeing if one is different from the others.

As far as I can tell there are 3. One on the differential, and one on each of the front wheels. Is this correct?



Also, I do have a 2WD.



I will also check the cable that you spoke of.

This past Saturday, I disconnected the sensor on the differential from
the cable and that connection looked good. I also took the driver's
seat out and checked the connection under it, and it seemed OK.

then its one of the ft speed sensors,they produce a small voltage when the wheel spins,so you have to lift each wheel an spin them.if one of them are open they wont give a reading at all.set the dvom to the millivolt scale.but be careful even though you may see a reading one of them may still be bad.cause they can also set erratic codes.its best to get the code read somewhere before attempting to do this on your own.to know exactly what side is giving the trouble. since yours is 2wd.the sensor is behind the hub bearing which has to be removed.this can be difficult to do in your back yard.an the new sensor has to be pressed back on to the bearing.i wouldnt attempt to go any further unless you are very mechanically inclined,an have a good set to tools.
