transmission ?

I Just got a 99 Isuzu Rodeo I was looking to check the tranny fluid and oil but I only found one dipstick which looked like the one for the oil. does this suv havea dipstick for the trany. All the info I got from the owner manual Said have tranny check at dealer. Sound like a dumm ? if so sorry

The last post in that thread has instructions on how to check it. Its for an '00 trooper but would be the same for yours, same tranny.

Another ? So if no dipstick then i would imagine that it has a senser when the fluid is running low.

Nope no sensor. It should be checked with normal service intervals. The 4L30E really likes clean fluid. Some recommend a full flush every 30k miles or a partial change (drain and refill) every 15k. Not sure how often it should be checked (I have a 5 speed).

As long as you keep it serviced and dont over heat it it should last a long time.

Just what ever the owners manual says. No specific brand either though we all have our favorites.

'97 should be the same. I believe it used the same GM 4L30E tranny.
