After reading here and in other forums people's problems and
complaints, and hearing the opinions of people that I know, I don't
think anyone has a good impression of Isuzu.

Even my self. When I look for my next car, Isuzu won't be my first choice.

So I was wondering, are any of Isuzu's vehicles worth having?[img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img]

All isuzus are worth having !

They have their share of problems but so does every other vehicle out there. None of them are perfect. Most of the problems with isuzus are minor and ppl are more likely to post complaints about problems then post about things not going wrong.

If you want an isuzu thats not an isuzu you can get a new acender its a rebadged chevy trailblazer/ gmc envoy. The new isuzu pickups are isuzus with chevy drive trains rebadged for chevy as colorados then re rebadged as I serires for isuzu.

Well,I can't really complain with my Rodeo. GM engine,so it's reliable
*knock on wood* and parts are fairly easy to get. It's well built,nice
to drive,and yeah it has little problems,but it's all easy stuff to
fix. I'm really quite impressed with my Rodeo so far,for build quality
and general reliability. I'd buy another one,but I'd make sure it was
fuel injected and manual,just to try and get a little better gas milage
than what I see now with a carburated V6 and automatic.



I used to have an '87 Trooper for a few months,but I never put it on the road.



If you want a nightmare vehicle,buy yourself a Ford Contour. I had 3 of
them....and 2 of them ended up in the scrap yard because I hated them
so much. One got away lucky because I traded it in. One of them was a
'95 with a V6 and 5 speed...In 10 months I spent over $5000 in repairs.
I went through 2 transmissions,new cv shafts,ball joints,stuts and
springs all around,water pump,brakes all around (rotors and pads)...not
to mention all the little stupid problems that make you want to rip
your hair out. I live down the road from the wreckers I took that car
to,and whenever I drive by,I can see the car sitting in the yard facing
the road and I get to laugh at it every time I go by. That car spent
more time in the shop than it did on the road. I'd fix one thing and 3
more things would go wrong.[img]smileys/smiley7.gif[/img]

Yeah Isuzu isn't such a bad company. I bought mine with 29k miles and now it has 76k. During my ownership I never had any problem. It never gave up on me. I drive it on long road trips a lot with with only break for gas. The only thing about my Isuzu is that it has a ticking sound which is from the HLA. About every car out there with HLA will make a ticking sound. It is completely normal for it. Even my Mazda MX6 has a ticking sound from HLA. Anyways Isuzu is a good company. I would buy another one anytime with no hesitation.

What's an HLA?

yeah,about the ticking,my old Mazda B2200 does that,and I even have
abrand new rebuilt engine with 5000km on it and a rebuilt and shaved
head and it still ticks a little. Nothing you can do about it
really,unless you try some different grades of oil or some additives to
make it a little quieter,but it will always tick.

HLA is Hydraulic lash adjuster. Just make sure you change your oil every 3k miles with clean oil and quality filter.

I love my 96 rodeo. It has 205k on it and runs better than cars half its age. I'm willing to bet it will make it to 300k no problem. Edited by: benbr84

I would say the two that i have had the best luck with is my old 1986 Isuzu Trooper II, i beat that thing into the ground and it kept coming back for more, but it wasnt as good for day to day transportation, more of a work truck, but i have had 2 1994 Isuzu Rodeo's and i absolutly love those, i have had occasional problems with them like any other car, but the first one made it far past 250,000 miles and the other one i am still driving now at 175,000 and everything still works great!!!
