I have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 6 cylinder 2WD. It won't start, I have power from the battery because everything works, headlights, wipers, etc. I took the starter off and had it tested at two different auto part stores. Starter Okay. I noticed the auto transmission indicator lights were out of sync but now they work except in Drive 2 it shows on the indicator as P for park. Everything else is right P for Park, R for Reverse, D for drive, etc. Is there a switch that may be off not showing the car is really in Park so it will start?

yea your trans range switch is fubar its on the left side of the trans behind the shift linkage but that usually wont cause a problem with starting it will mostly just give you rough shifts look on the left fender and youll see like 4 plugs a green, white, blue, and black one pull those apart then stick them back together those are a prime cause of most electrical type issues what exactlly is it doin no crank? crank but no fire? crank stumbles then dies what?

It just clicks, no crank. Where abouts on the left fender are the 4 plugs, under the hood, from underneath? I'll check those when I find them. Thanks for the reply, any help appreciated.

sounds to me like you have a battery problem it is possible to have accessories that work and the truck still not start because they will operate on less than 12v and with very little amperage however it takes alot of amps to actually engage the starter and turn over the engine I would leave those plugs alone for the time being and start with a battery thats where Im putting my money

If it was the battery, wouldn't it start when I tried to jump it?
