Rodeo 3.2V6 idle and acceleration problem
 

Hi Folks,

Im a newbie to this forum from across the pond (Scotland) and I have a problem with my Rodeo (called a vauxhall Frontera over here).

I need to give you some background first ! Ive owned a 1999 Rodeo 3.2 V6 manual for 6 years and just sold it and bought a 2004 3.2 V6 to replace it.

My old V6 was the older style engine (with a throttle cable) and my new one is the newer drive by wire engine.

Ok - my new car is sometimes a little difficult to start, and compared to my older V6 has a rougher idle and is hesitant on acceleration . I have also had a P0430 fault code (Catalytic convertor bank 2 fault).

My new car only has 19K miles on the clock and I took it to my local dealer who was more than useless ! This is quite a rare car over here.

I have an OBD cable and had alook at what the ECU is up to and heres a summary.

O2 Sensor -
Both pre cat sensors switch back and forward fine
Bank 1 post cat sensor reads around 0.8v and remains reasonably steady
Bank 2 post cat sensor reads around 0.3V and has small spikes up to 0.8v everynow and then.

Long term fuel trim on bank 1 is around +8%
Long term fuel trim on banlk 2 is around +2%

My first thoughts were that it could be a leaking inlet manifold gasket but at 19K miles that seems early ! Then I started to think that the bank 2 post cat O2 sensor could be faulty confusing the ECU.

What do you think ??
What should the post cat sensors be reading ??

Heres a few pictures comparing bank 1 with bank 2 . It shows the pre cat O2 sensor (top left), the post cat O2 sensor (top right), the short term fuel trim (bottom left) and long term fuel trim (bottom right).
