I'm new to this forum and hope it will help resolve a problem I'm having. I have a '98 Rodeo and the rear wiper quit working. The fuses are good, the rear fluid pump still works but not the wiper motor making me believe its a bad switch or bad wiring somewhere. I've replaced the motor but this didn't work either...Hmmmmmmm.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a cure?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Pete in Olean, NY

is there a seperate fuse for this?

zbudah 12-12-2005 11:41 PM

Theredidn't appear to bea separate fuse for the wiper motor...I believe it is for the entire rear wiper and reservoir pump circuit. Iwill recheck and update. Thanks

There is one fuse for the rear wiper and washer system. The fluid is delivered so the fuse would be expected to be good. My suspect would be the wiring harness is pinched off somewhere or one of the window or door safety switches is losing ground somewhere.

PROABLE IS THE ALARM CONTROL MODULE BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX,THAT MODULE CONTROLS ALOT OF THINGS INCLUDING THE REAR WIPER AN THE FT INTERMITANT WIPER,IF ALL FUSES ARE GOOD LOOK FOR THAT NEXT.COST ABOUT 200 DOLLARS,LOOK BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX AN TO YOUR FAR RIGHT CORNER.ITS THE ONE THAT STANDING UPRIGHT,THE OTHER IS FOR YOUR KEYLESS ENTRY.EVEN TRY TAPPING ON IT TO SEE IF THE WIPER TRIES TO MOVE,DO THIS WITH THE KEY ON OF COURSE AN SWITCH ON.

I dont know if it was related but the guy who tinted my windows cut
into the defogger window lines and that shorted out my rear
wiper. Once I fixed the defogger problem my wiper started
working, but like I said I don't know if it was related...

If you know how to solder or know someone that does you dont need to replace the whole box. You can just replace the relays for $5 each.
