Hi my name is Steve. I have a 2001 Rodeo with a 3.2 V6, auto trans. when I look into buying parts for the engine I keep seeing "VD1", "VD2" and "VE1". What is the difference and other than checking the engine # how can you tell what type you have? Also looking for a big brake kit, is there someone who makes them for the Rodeo?

Thanks

Yours should be a 6VD1. Have to be carefull though because isuzu used 6VD1 for the SOHC (''''93-97) as well as the DOHC (''''98-03) 3.2L in rodeos. I''''m not sure what a 6VD2 is, I havent run into that one yet but I''''m thinking its the trooper DOHC with combination belt/chain timing system. 6VE1 is the 3.5L.

Havent seen anything for aftermarket brake kits. They are pretty beefy from the factory. Just get some good quality ceramic pads and they do quite well.

EDIT:
Look at the 8th digit of your VIN. If its a W then you have a 6VD1 3.2L DOHC.Edited by: Gizmo42

Thanks Gizmo, The 8 digit is a W. You''ll probably see more questions from me in the near future. I,m working in the middle east and no one over here wants to touch my Rodeo (not even the dealer) because it''s a Rodeo and they say they do not have the tools or equipment for it. But they''ll work on Troopers. Go figure. Doesn''t make any sense to me but I can''t get them to see things my way.So I''m in the process of doing all the work myself. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
