Hi, I'm new here. Hopefully someone can help me with this.

Vehicle spec: 99 L4. 5-speed. 2x4.

I work in the parts business, and I'm ASE certified. But this puzzles me. I pop the hood to check the A/C and recharge for the summer. I look down at the front of the engine to do the usual underhood check, and lo and behold, the freakin' harmonic balancer is a little wobbly. With the engine at idle, it is about 10 degrees from center.

Anyone else had this problem, know what the probable cause is, or know how to fix it? I would hate to have to go to the shop with this if I could avoid it. Having never experienced this problem before, is it still safe to drive untill I get it fixed? I sure hope so, cause I've got to.

Thanks.

yes i have seen this also ...isuzu balancers will twist from center from age,i havent seen them come apart yet,but they will move, can be really a problem when your doing a t-belt job an your trying to re-time the engine with a twisted balancer, makes things a real pain.when i catch vehicles that come in for service we just sell the customer new balancer before they get worse.

I've read of a few on other forums that have come apart. I would suggest getting it replaced as soon as you can but think it should be ok for a while. As isuzuguru said its not uncommon, rubber wears out over time.
