If your gas gauge is not working and you may have a check engine light on as well then you need a new fuel sending unit. Dealers may tell you that you need a new fuel pump and that a fuel sending unit is not available for your vehicle. However, this is not that case. I have Isuzu OEM/Factory fuel sending units that will fit any Rodeo and Passport from 1998-2002. You will not need to recalibrate anything and it should cost no more than $150 to install, or you can do it yourself in under 2 hours! This unit WILL fix you problem. Do not let the dealer rip you off! I fixed mine in my 2000 Rodeo 4x4 and figured I may as well help others out and save other hundreds of dollars. My item is for sale by calling Andy at (407) 625-4295 or anicol@cfl.rr.com or by looking on eBay.com for Seller awnicol25. Good luck! Save some money!

on the 1998 models you do need to reprogram because the resistance value is differnent from the one that came from the factory

how do you go about getting it reprogrammed? is that something only a dealer can do?

my 98 rodeo is doin the whole cel and gas gauge effin up so im gonna fix it

well, i have sold over 2,000 of these since November of 2002 and I have had 2 peolpe tll me that they had to reprogram their vehicle. I really do not think that you will need to do this, but I can not say 100%. Either way it is a good deal to buy the unit and not the entire fuel pump. Saves a lot of $. If you need a unit I have some on ebay under the seller name of awnicol25.

Yes you can buy the sender that is not the problem but on the 1998 models they had a different ressistance value then the 99 and up values, Trust me I work on Isuzu's everday

make sure you buy the sender then have it reprogrammed after the sender is replaced, I don't know if I was totally clear on my explaination or not

jburnsua Feb 13, 2007 08:04 PM

so do you jus go to the dealer and then get them to do reprogram the ecu and how much does it cost?

98rodeoS Feb 19, 2007 04:45 PM

I had a dealer tell me they would not reprogram my pcm, but they would replace the sender, I guess there is no money in the reprogramming. Trying other dealers now, but there are not many in my area. Anyone know a good one near Vancouver, BC?
