Ibought a 2003 Rodeo from its only owner about 3 months ago. Everything was working fine. Suddenly, although the cruise control and brake lights work fine in the daytime, when you turn the headlights on (day or night, we noticed it at night), the cruise control and brake lights no longer work. Any idea what might be going on? It is not used off-road and has not been in any high water. It has about 50,000 miles on it. If a short in the wiring is a possibility, where to look?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Terri

Check the rear brake and tail light bulbs. Sometimes one of the filiments can break and short against the other. Also check the sockets for corrosion, make sure they are clean. Could also be a bad ground somewhere. There are 3 screws to remove the tail light assy. 2 on the side where it looks like air vents, and 1 between the light and bumper.
