99 rodeo frame issue
 

I just bought a 99 rodeo, I love this thing but the frame is rotten, the previous owner was never contacted for the recall, he had it for about 9 years. Can I get a dealership to fix this thing under their recall even though I live in Canada?
Does anyone know if I can take it to a dealership in the US?

I think I might replace the frame in mine if I keep it, I love it that much. I found a mint one in CA for $350, but now I have to figure out how to ship it x-country. There's some in PA, but I have a feeling they'll be as rotten as mine.
Has anyone done this before? Im a licensed tech and not scared of big jobs, but it helps to get advice from more experienced people than me, so what am I getting myself into here?

I called GM Canada (1-800-263-3777) after I saw the recall Transport Canada issued on these rust buckets but am getting the run around. They said there was no recall on my vehicle (99 Rodeo). The ass end of my frame looks like swiss cheese and is not safe to drive.

Wow I never heard of the recall. I just purchased a rodeo that was hit and could not be repared because it was all rusted out. Mine is not rusty because I under coated it years ago. Can u send me the recall info. I am in new york.

I have owned my Isuzu Rodeo for approx 9 years, and slowly started having rust issues in places I never have with a vehicle. It started with my gas fill hose that had the metal sections of it rusting to the point that half the gas I was trying to put in the car ended up on the ground. Fixed that, then
the return lines on the fuel system rusted and broke, so now I could fill my tank, but topping it off ended up on the ground. Then in January I felt a slight swaying as I drove the vehicle to my shop and as I pulled in the drive heard a clunk...well when I got out and looked it was the rear suspension bracket that had come apart from the frame. First it took 3 weeks before the dealership could even get it in because of the back up of other rodeos they are trying to fix. Then once it went in they said, it was fine and they
ordered the parts. Three weeks later the parts were there and they called and said it was unfixable and the info and pics were sent to isuzu and they would be contacting me. Two weeks after that they finally contacted me with an offer that was rediculous. But I was told it didn't matter to them, even if I tried to fight it that I would not get a penny more because it is a recall issue buyout, and that is all that they are required to pay. At that point I was told it's up to me, I take the money and they take the car, or I keep the car and they close the record on the case and it's done, and then my problem. Well with everything else that seemed to be rusting, I thought it would be smart to just take the money and wash my hands of it. Unfortunatley what they gave me was Kelly BLue Book, private sellers rate and won't pay more then good condition. That total was just $2,285. I had almost $2,000 in repairs to other things on that car just since last June. So basically I got the money in repairs I put out in the last year back, and was left with no car. On top of the fact that I have been without a car for 3 months, it just isn't fair that they don't seem to think they need to take
care of their customers any better then that. I am verydisappointed in the treatment I received. Sad thing is I loved my rodeo.
