97' Rodeo throwing code P1406

97' Rodeo throwing code P1406

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what needs to be done to correct the P1406 code (EGR pintle valve curcuit). Any help would be of great appriciation.

I took off my egr valve and cleaned it with a wire brush and carb cleaner plugged it back in and the code went away after awhile i just decided to replace the egr valve
