I just replaced the brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and front brake pads. Then a day later, this awful noise (like a clunking) shows up. It does''t seem to have anything to do with the brakes. I thought that the shoes might be rubbing but I took everything off and looked at it and everything looked fine. The truck clunks and vibrates while driving. I can feel it in the cab and it feels like a drive train issue. |
Have you looked at the carrier bearing? Mine was completely shot and I was getting some clunking when changing speeds.

I''ll look at it. Thanks. Thats it. It is completely gone.Edited by: alajones |
I''m not saying that''s what it is for sure, though. I drove mine around like that forever with no big deal except the clunking and some vibrations.

No I mean the carrier bearing is completely gone!!!

Oooh... wow. I guess you should fix that then!

For about the same price as just the bearing you can have the driveshaft retubed to a single tube and not have to worry about the carrier bearing any more. Find a drive shaft shop in your area and see what they say.
