2001 Rodeo random misfire
Some months ago I began to experience a misfire, especially at idle it is pronounced. It will lessen when the engine is warmed up, but at a traffic light it is more comfortable to take it out of gear.
The auto parts store analyzer says either "random misfire" or "random multiple cylinder misfire."
Also when sitting at idle, and even when out of gear, after 20-30 seconds the idle will fall below the specified 750 rpm and the motor will sputter, usually will recover, but usually I just punch the pedal a little, and by that time the traffic light will have turned green. The Check Engine light will flash when at probably 1200 rpm and will continue to flash for a few minutes, then will reset. I can turn off the engine for 10 seconds or so and coast, then restart on the run and the flashing will have reset back to normal.
Always when cruising it will run smooth.
