2001 Rodeo Engine Sized
 

Hey all. New to the forum, I'm looking at a 2001 Rodeo 3.2 4x4 5 speed in mint shape. The guy said it would keep shutting off on him, and then got a knocking noise. Said he took it to a shop and they told him was a rod knock. Well he broke down on the way home said that it just cut off and wouldn't crank at all. Been sitting since August.

I havn't gone to look at it but wondering is there any common problems to look out for? I'm mechanically inclined (rebuilt few motors from crank up, and do all my own work).

- Are there any security issues?
- If engine is gone, What other years will be a direct swap?

I know of a 97 for $500 with tranny problems, but I'm thinking thats a SOHC and the 2001 has DOHC if I am correct with my research. So would any v6 motor from 98-03 be the same?

Please throw me any suggestions before I spend any $ on it.
