I just bought this 1995 rodeo 3.2 auto 2wd, on start up blows black smoke, no power, once warms up cel comes on, runs better not right. cant figure out how or where to pull codes. auto parts store said terminal 1+3 on right of gas pedal but couldnt find. has 197k no funky noises, battery seems to be charging on high side. Thanks

 

A little more on this flashed codes 44 lean o2 said to check for vaccuum leaks, used carb spray didnt find anything, is there a trend on these i should check

 

what are the results of a compression test?

 

Because it cleans up after check engine light comes on I was thinking sensors. I will do comp test tomm. at firehouse today

 

black smoke/no power/rough/erratic engine running = excessive fuel to air ratio!
