Default 1994 Rodeo with a bad tick

Ok I have a 1994 Rodeo with a pretty bad ticking noise but when I get the rpm's up to 2,200 the ticking stops I've been told by a few guys that deal with isuzu's it's most likely a stuck lifter?? and if it is a stuck lifter what can I do to fix it ohhh and it's the 3.2L V6

I have the same thing, I really don't know who doesn't have that sound from the Isuzu. I am considering running a thicker motor oil like 15w 40 to see if the sound changes.

run some sea foam through your engine between oil changes and read the label

another thing to do before you change the oil put a quart of ATF in your oil. an run the car for 20-30 mins maybe take it for a drive down the highway. ATF has good cleaning property's for varnish "which work well on sludge an stuck lifters. do that then finish changing your oil. an also mabey change your oil a bit short of the normal intervals to help get some more of the sludge out.

it will be considerably worse when cold. the thicker oil dosn't flow thru the passages as well when its cold because it takes more pressure to push it thru the tiny passages when its cold an thick like molasses.

get rid of the lifter tick then switch to 15-40 if you want.

thanks for the help people but I've actually come to find out it's the timing belt tensioner pulley nothing to do with the lifters or valves

Default how you discovered that your tensioner was bad.

I don’t know if it’s the same thing but my engine ticks some days but not all. I would very much like to know how you discovered that your tensioner was bad.

the tap is very specific it made the same tapping noise all the time soon as it got to 2,200 on the dot every time the noise would stop back under 2,200 it would start again I found a guy from another isuzu forum that had the same problem come to find out it was the ticking of the timing belt tensioner which according to some people I've talked to is actually pretty common with isuzu vehicles, so here is a video of the tensioner knock http://s550.photobucket.com/albums/ii405/ditchdoc/94%20Trooper/?action=view&current=TensionerKnock.flv sound anything like yours??? that sounded just like mine!!!!

The ticking that i have is not loud. You really only hear it when you are out side the truck and not when driving. It also goes away when i change the motor oil every 3000 - 4000 miles. The sound comes back within 1,500 miles. I think it is valve train noise and the fact that i have 200,000 miles on the truck. I run 89 octain fuel to keep it running great. I love this truck, it is so well made. 25 miles per gal. smooth 5 speed man, power in any gear, and leather seats. Can't beat it.
