Can you explain the difference between a clip and a magazine?
A "clip" is a bent piece of brass or steel that holds rounds to speed load a military rifle. For the '03 Springfield, 30-06 rounds came in 5 round "stripper clips" that perched up above the open bolt so that 5 rounds could be quickly pushed down into the receiver of the Springfield.

Yes.
A magazine feeds the weapon, some are removable, some aren't. A clip feeds the magazine. In the Springfield rifle, the internal magazine wasn't removable, so you had to feed the rounds straight from the clip. In the AR platform, the magazines are removable, so you rarely see the actual "stripper clip" unless you are in the military or are using military surplus ammo. Did that help?
