Hi, I'm new. Never used a common interest site before. Very cool.

I just purchased a '99 Rodeo 3.2 DOHC (5-speed) from an auction. On cold start, it revs to about 3000 rpm and holds there until warmed up. I scanned it, and I have 3 TPS codes, P0121,0122 and 0123. Just for the heck of it, I replaced the TPS (it was cheap, 35.00). No change.

Once warmed up, it idles low and surges, like a leaky intake. I am a mechanic of 15 years, so I understand tech-speak. If anyone has experienced the same or similar, pleas contact.

Hallbee,

I followed a TSB regarding the erratic idle, which I downloaded from alldata diy (I subscribed for a year -$25.00 and well worth it). Checked a few grounds, cleaned a connector or two, and checked the power steering pressure switch. I think the grounds or the connector cleaning did the trick. I did not stop to check after every procedure, just at the end. It still idles over 2 grand at startup, but it drops to a steady 1100 after abot a minute now.

Thanks for the tip on the ECT and o2 loops, however. Do you think it might be staying in open loop too long, due to a low ECT reading?
