'89 Impulse Water Pump issues
Hi, folks.
I have an '89 Impulse 2.3L that blew out the water pump. I got the parts and started to work removing the old pump before I realized that one of the bolts was wedged behind the stupid plate behind the crankshaft pulley. Does anyone have any idea how to get that bolt out without removing the whole pulley and front plate off the motor? If not and I have to turn the car over to loosen the crankshaft hub bolt while the fan clutch and belts are off, will it screw up my timing and force me to retime it? What idiot designed this motor? I love the car, but this is WAY too much effort for what on most cars is a simple part to replace. As an example, I had a 1994 V6 Camaro with a bad water pump. Pulled the pump pulley, 6 bolts and it was off. 20 minute swap, tops. |
