I've got an 85 impulse that hadnt run for years. The shop is telling me the head is non machinable and the turbo is frozen. Parts for these things are difficult to find at best, and just shy of impossible in Hawaii.

Looking for a head with cams and turbo parts(although the turbo may be salvagable) Unfortunately this is very time critical since the shop doesnt want to hang on to a car they cant work on. If anyone knows who to call or where to look, i would be most grateful.

It's probably not what you want to hear, but I was in need of an obscure suspension part. I contacted a local Isuzu dealer and they said they could get it but it would take up to 6 weeks. It only took 4, but I think it had to come from Japan. I would try a dealer's parts department first and if that doesn't work a junkyard may be the only other place. Like you said the parts are hard to come by, the local parts stores don't carry much more than filters for these cars.

But the shop is telling me the shaft is not turning on the turbo, I'm not the most technical person but the turbo is not required for the motor to run is it? While it will severely hinder performance, the turbine doesnt need to spin for the motor to get the air it needs at idle RPMs. Basically, if I can get a new head and cam, can I limp it home at an idle without doing anything more then putting mild stress on an already broken turbo?

 

Well so much for the new head, they dont carry one for the turbo. Anyone have a line on where I could buy one?
