Check Engine Light/O2 Sensor/Ct Conv code

I replaced the left rear O2 senor on my 04 rodeo and now I'm again stuck with a check engine light. The code that it gives is a Catalytic converter below threshold and a O2 sensor below threshold. Does anyone have experience with this. A catalytic converter is super expensive and I can't afford one of those. Also I don't know if this has anything to do with it but my cruise control doesn't work at all either. thank You for any help you can offer besides buy a new CC.

The cruise should not have anything to do with the other fault. I would like to say my pipes run dual till they get to the back and then are into one. So there is no way to feel each side and see if one has more preasure than the other which would show a restricted cat. I went through a few o2 sensors before i found a good one that cleared my fault getting the parts from autozone. These tend to like dealer parts better than cheap aftermarket. The real only decent way to see is hook up to a diagnostic machine that will show what all the sensors are reading at the same time. When you will see if each o2 sensors are reading right. Could be caused by the egr not working right. another thing is if you get gas at all kinds of different places then it could cause problems. My rodeo runs good on quicktrip or most marathon gas but runs bad on racetrack gas.

My suggestion to start is put a can of seafoam and run a gas from one station that you think has good gas and sells plenty of it. See if this makes a difference. Also after doing this and running a tank pull loose the duct going to the throttle body and open the butterfly. see how much carbon is in there. If a lot of black buildup it runs through your egr and other. does not let the o2s sense right. Spray some cleaner in it and keep running decent gas. Should be 2 tubes running from the egr back up to the throttle body. See if they are full of carbon and if so clean. May even pull the egr. 2 bolts clean and reinstall. See if this helps.
