I have a diesel i mark, not exactly sure of the year, but it has been sitting for a few years. When I got it I had it running and then it just shut off and has sat since then. What are some items I should check? I have read that to check the glow plugs, but shouldn't it still run w/o the plugs? any suggestions would be great. Thanks

 

UPDATE: Figured out that the timing belt was broke. Fortunately the head and valves are all okay. Now the problem is setting the timing for the valves. I read the repair book and it doesnt say a whole lot about it. I have #1 piston at TDC and I have the injection pump lined up but how do I time the camshaft?
